Efficiency and Ease of Use Key in OPL Sector

Girbau Adds Larger ED900 and ED1250 models to ED Series Ecodryer Range

Girbau has added two new higher capacity models to its popular ED range of OPL dryers. The new ED900 had a 900 litre, 50kg capacity drum while the ED1250 has a 1250 litre drum and 62.5kg capacity. Like all models in the elegantly designed ED range the ED900 and ED1250 are available with gas, electric or steam heating options. The new models join the existing ED260, ED340. ED460 and ED660 with capacities ranging from 14.5kg to 37kg.

ED Series EcoDryers feature Girbau TRANSFLOW technology. This is a combination of both radial and axial airflow for maximum efficiency and drying throughout the drum, reduced cycle times and lower energy consumption. Heat Capture cabinet insulation and Girbau’s double-glazed door further optimise energy efficiency and prevent heat escaping into the laundry. The stainless steel drum’s unique Care Touch design and manufacture with no sharp edges prolongs linen life.

The sophisticated controls of the ED series of Girbau dryers ensure delicate items are dried safely, uniformly, efficiently and cost effectively. The highly reliable and accurate built-in advanced moisture sensor automatically detects when clothes are dry and activates the cool down process maximising energy efficiency and providing the best textile care. Girbau’s Speed Control function can be used to manually or automatically optimise drum speed to suit residual moisture content.

ED Series dryers also feature intuitive, powerful and easy to use controls with a state of the art adaptable user interface. Multi-phase Pro programming is available for professional and advanced users, while the switchable Easy mode offers simple and easy to use controls for basic users.

New features exclusively available on the new ED900 and ED1250 dryers include modulation of the gas heating as standard. Different burners can be activated separately for higher efficiency and improved energy management for all kinds of linen. The ED1250 model features advanced temperature control management which allows precise control of temperatures before and after the drum, tuneable for cycle phase, fabric type, load and cycle phase. The ED1250 does not rely on drum support wheels for quieter operation and reduced maintenance and the door opening can be reversed on-site for greater flexibility in use.

A second inverter on the fan motor of the new larger models gives enhanced air flow modulation, which allows users to vary the airflow for different kinds of exhaust installation. It also allows the program cycle to be adjusted for better results depending on the load in use.

The Steam heated ED900 and ED1250 models feature a steel heat exchanger to facilitate the use of higher pressure steam and come with a cool-down trap for enhanced efficiency and linen finishing.

New Higher Capacity HS-6085 Washer for Largest Hotel OPLs

Girbau also recently added the HS-6085, 95kg capacity machine to its HS 6 Series of washer extractors. The high speed, high efficiency HS-6085 comes with Girbau’s INTELI controls, EasyLoad function and the option of TILT control for easier loading and unloading.

HS Series washers are already among the most energy and water-efficient models available and Girbau’s Smart Load function offers additional in-use economies, especially for on- premise laundries that operate machines at less than full capacity on some washes. Washers in the Girbau HS 6 Series have Water Technology List (WTL) approval meaning that businesses investing in new machines can benefit from 100% tax relief. The complete HS 6 Series range now comprises nine models: HS-6008, HS-6013, HS-6017, HS-6024, HS-6032, HS-6040, HS-6057, HS-6085 and HS-6110.

Luxury Resort Upgrades On Premise Laundry

Stoke by Nayland is a luxury hotel, golf and spa resort near Colchester with 80 contemporary rooms and a luxurious spa with gym. Its existing laundry was no longer able to cope with the increased quantities of spa towels and hotel laundry, so Housekeeping Manager Steve Miles looked to Girbau for a more efficient solution.

Girbau’s laundry consultants worked with the resort’s housekeeping team to identify shortfall areas in the laundry before recommending an upgrade capable of meeting capacity, quality and energy efficiency requirements. After meticulous planning the expert Girbau installation team fitted the laundry with a combination of three robust HS-6023 (25kg capacity) INTELI washers and three energy efficient ED 660 gas dryers.

The advanced INTELI controls on Girbau HS Series washers provide 20 pre-set and 79 customisable programs for quick and easy programming for a variety of textiles, including spa towels with notoriously difficult-to-clean treatment oils.

The new washers have helped to transform laundry operation as Steve Miles confirms: “We are very happy with the quality of the machines and the effective combination of INTELI washers and chemicals. We can now process 15-16 loads per day of towels from the leisure side of the business in 45 minute cycles, slightly longer for spa towels. We also process six to eight loads per day of hotel linen, including napkins from the restaurant.”

The Girbau ED660 gas dryers benefit from a 37kg capacity drum and many energy saving features including cabinet insulation and a double-glazed door that prevent heat escaping into the laundry room.

Steve Miles, continues, “We are pleased to be achieving a full 75lb load in the Dryers in 25 just minutes. The faster cycle times have increased our operating capacity and made us much more efficient.”
