-Five-star hotel opens their Spa doors to guests going through cancer-
Fairmont St Andrews, the five-star, award winning hotel in Fife, will introduce Cancer Touch Therapy wellness treatments by The Made for Life Foundation within their luxury Spa from August 2018.
The army of spa therapists within the Fairmont Spa resort have undergone qualified training sessions to be CMA accredited Cancer Touch Therapists. The luxury St Andrews resort is the most northern hotel in Scotland to open its spa doors to guests going through cancer, offering confidence and clarity to this wellness experience.
Michelle Burns, spa director at Fairmont St Andrews states, “Those going through cancer, whether newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment or in recovery can come together and enjoy a ‘day off’ from their regular routine. Often those going through cancer treatment experience a different type of touch, however the movements used in the touch therapy are slow and methodical therefore allowing for deep relaxation. I am delighted with my team who have really engaged with the training, and have changed their practices to feel more emotionally connected to the guests.”
This unique and visionary treatment has allowed people with cancer to experience spa treatments where they were not advised to before. Amanda Winwood, MD and Founder for Made for Life Organics and The Made for Life Foundation says, “at a time when a therapeutic and nurturing touch is most needed, 96% of spas still turn people away whilst they are going through cancer. Our CMA accredited Cancer Touch Therapy training course has enabled spas to confidently open doors to anyone going through cancer and provide much needed support.”
The Cancer Touch Therapy treatments use 100% organic products from Made for Life Organics, which contain no synthetic chemicals or parabens and instead offer natural botanicals and delicate scents. People with MS, ME, who are pregnant, or those who have had surgery, can also benefit from this relaxing and unique treatment.
Treatments that will be available last from 35, 50 or 90 minutes, allowing the guest time to relax and experience a spa journey like no other.
Some of the treatments that will be available include Hand on Heart™ treatment for the Back, Face, and Scalp created to allow the guest to drift away to a meditative state of relaxation. This treatment can be adapted for those who have recently had surgery on their front, or for those who are pregnant. Another inclusion will be the deeply relaxing Touch Therapy treatment for the face or body, which has a sequence of slow, soothing movements tailored to the guest need.
John Keating, Fairmont St Andrews general manager added, “We are thrilled to be able to offer this unique experience in St Andrews. The resort is a place for everyone to relax and feel comfortable, we want our guests to experience tranquillity on their spa journey.”
Full consultations will be provided by the trained therapists who will guide guests through the experience.
