Figures from the HSE’s 2013-2014 Handling Injuries in Great Britain report the accommodation and food sector to have the lowest number of reported handling injuries across all industries covered in the study. Highlighted in this graphic from the team at SHS Handling Solutions, the accommodation and food sector had 61 out of 100,000 employees reporting a handling injury which, when compared to the highest rate in the water and waste sector of 350 out of 100,000 employees, is a significant achievement for the sector.
With strict health and safety guidelines to adhere to within the sector, it is positive to see such good results and is a clear sign that hotel owners and others within the hospitality and food sector are taking the safety of all members of staff seriously.
